Montclair Farmers' Market – Buy Local
A sure sign of summer in this suburb is the opening of the Montclair Farmers’ Market is now open for its twentieth season at the Walnut Train Station parking lot. The weekly market continues into November.
When a committed group of residents conceived and opened the farmers’ market in 1993, there were three such markets in north Jersey. Today there are over one hundred farmers’ markets throughout New Jersey.
All five of our familiar farmers – Tree-Licious Orchards, Sunden Farms, Vacchiano’s, Matarazzo’s, and Farmer John (the organic grower) – will return to town this season with produce usually picked within 24 hours.

Our Power Montclair Campaign Provides Fuel Efficient Vehicles List
Transportation encompasses a large percentage of greenhouse gas emissions. In Montclair, more than a quarter of our carbon footprint comes from automobiles (28%). If the types of vehicles we use are more fuel efficient, a large impact can be made on the carbon footprint in town.
The It's in Our Power Montclair campaign encourages residents to make their next vehicle purchase from among a list of fuel efficient models. Specifically, this effort focuses on getting consumers to purchase only vehicles that have a government calculated fuel efficiency rating of “35 MPG highway” (or greater). We have identified 324 vehicles that make the list of vehicles that get 35MPG highway (or greater) criteria. Included are data for the last seven model years.* Vehicles are sorted by automaker.
